Our Values
OUR PURPOSE — We exist to glorify God by being and making disciples of Jesus.
Living in the Presence of Jesus—
We know we are living by this value when . . .
. . . we spend time alone with Jesus just because we enjoy being with Him.
. . . we regularly spend time with Jesus in prayer and meditation so that our thinking and behavior are in tune with Him.
. . . we make a habit of depending on His presence in us for direction in everyday matters.
We Know we are living this value when . . .
. . . we respect the Bible as the Word of God, the ultimate authority for making decisions and living life.
. . . we spend time studying the Bible, and meditating on it, allowing its truths to form and shape our thoughts, attitudes and behavior.
. . . we live in obedience to Jesus’ commands even when it means persecution.
Submission to the Authority of God’s Word—
Family of God—
We Know we are living by this value when . . .
. . . God and His family are the first priority in our lives.
. . . our relationships with one another are characterized by mutual, selfless, sacrificial love demonstrated in acceptance, respect, tolerance, kindness, encouragement, forgiveness, accountability, discipline, service, support and enjoyment of each other.
. . . the family is gathered, we participate, sharing and receiving from each other as God has gifted us.
. . . we regularly spend leisure time together.
We Know we are living by this value when . . .
. . . our lives are being formed by the regular practice of spiritual disciplines, individually, within our member families, and as a congregation.
. . . instruction is regularly taking place in formal and informal settings—one on one, in small groups, and in large groups.
. . . our community gatherings for worship, fellowship, instruction, mission and recreation are more often than not intergenerational.
